Curbed: Mayor Kenney says Philly will honor Paris climate accord after U.S. pulls out – The transportation sector is the largest contributor to U.S. carbon emissions. Cities must move towards zero-carbon transportation systems by making safe and walkable neighborhoods, investing in cycling infrastructure, supporting electric vehicles, building better and affordable public transportation, focusing on transit-oriented development, and smart pricing for roads and parking.

Philly.com: SEPTA approves big solar project –  With the installation of rooftop solar systems on maintenance centers and a new fleet of electric buses, SEPTA  is making strides towards their goal of reducing greenhouse-gas emissions from operations and facilities by 20% by 2020.

Mobility Lab: People who work near Seattle’s protected bike lanes ride to work more often – In addition to being within 5 blocks of a bike lane, the top 15 bike-to-work companies provide indoor bike storage, 14 of the 15 provide showers, 6 provide bike-repair stations, and 4 even provide the bikes themselves.

Thrillist: The Most Walkable Cities in America – Philadelphia, specifically Center City, made the list. While that is great, we must ensure that all neighborhoods are safe and walkable.
