Internships and Volunteering

All internships and volunteer positions will be remote/virtual until further notice.

We offer internships for undergraduate, graduate and legal interns. Generally, internships are unpaid positions with the Council and we consider their roles important to the Council’s work. We will work with interns to secure external funding (such as work-study programs) to cover the costs of living while interning with the Council.

“I had an incredible experience as a legal intern for Clean Air Council. During my internship, I was able to meaningfully contribute to the environmental protection effort in Pennsylvania, and I gained invaluable hands-on experience with a wide variety of environmental law issues. However, what I appreciated most about Clean Air Council was the staff’s genuine interest in providing the interns with mentorship, guidance, and opportunities to learn and grow as future lawyers and environmental advocates.”

– Libby Wetzler, Clean Air Council Legal Intern, Summer 2021

“Joining the Council’s legal team as an intern after my 1L year was the ideal way to jumpstart my involvement in an area of advocacy that I hope to keep as a central focus of my whole legal career. There are things you learn from exposure to high-stakes, of-the-moment environmental defense litigation and activism that you can’t learn in a classroom, and certainly won’t learn from a textbook.

The best part of an internship with the Council is the caliber of people you work with: a group of consummate professionals dedicated to winning uphill legal battles yet equally committed to providing an irreplaceable education to its interns. Over 10 weeks this summer, I contributed more meaningful work to a vital cause than I ever had, all while doubling my understanding of the contemporary legal and political landscape. I will be watching and rooting for the Council’s achievements for years to come!”

– Brandon Robilotti, Clean Air Council Legal Intern, Summer 2021
