LOCAL GROUPS CELEBRATE 2.2 MILLION COMMENTS ON EPA CLEAN AIR RULE WITH SYMBOLIC BOXING MATCH ON ‘ROCKY STEPS’

161,840 Pennsylvanians speak out in support of first-ever limits on carbon pollution

A symbolic boxing match between public health and air pollution was held on June 28, 2012 at 10 am in front of the Art Museum steps to highlight the broad public support that exists for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s proposed Carbon Pollution Standard. Over 2.2 million comments have been submitted to EPA in support of this proposal to limit industrial carbon pollution from new power plants making it the largest EPA public comment period in American history. Millions of Americans and over 160,000 Pennsylvanians are showing their support for the new carbon rules, saying the EPA is doing its job under the Clean Air Act -- and holding power plants accountable for the amount of pollution they spew into the air.
