The Council applauds President Obama’s public support for energy efficiency, clean energy economy

Statement by Joseph O. Minott, Esq., Executive Director, Clean Air Council

“President Obama visited Pennsylvania State University today to highlight his clean energy initiatives. The Council supports President Obama’s energy initiatives – specifically those energy efficiency initiatives which would save families, businesses and government hundreds in energy costs. Using energy more efficiently, whether by installing compact fluorescent light bulbs, buying more efficient appliances, or better insulating walls and windows, can lead to considerable economic savings and substantial decreases in air pollution.”

“President Obama made clear in his speech that ‘it is time to stop subsidizing yesterday’s energy.’ The Council supports transitioning America to a clean energy economy and transferring the billions of dollars in subsidies for large corporate polluters to investments in renewable energy, energy efficient buildings and new green technologies that will spur innovation and create American products and jobs.”

“An economy based on renewable energy and green technologies will create more jobs and strengthen safeguards that protect our health, our national security and the air that we breathe.”
