SUMMARY:GoPhillyGo Goes to Bartram's Mile: Bike Ride & Tour
DESCRIPTION:The much anticipated Bartram’s Mile is opening Earth Day weekend. On Monday\, May 1\, join GoPhillyGo and Bartram’s Garden for an exclusive bike tour of Bartram’s Mile as well as the grounds of Bartram’s Garden\, the country’s oldest botanic garden. Meet at 5:30 pm on the Schuylkill River Trail at the Locust St. entrance. From there we will bike about 3 miles to Bartram’s Mile\, where we will go on a tour with Justin of Bartram’s Garden. \nThis event is free\, but space is limited. Registration is recommended\, so register now. Join the Facebook event page too! \nBartram’s Mile runs along the west bank of the Schuylkill River between Grays Ferry Avenue and 56th Street. This multiuse path will one day connect Southwest Philadelphia to the Grays Ferry Crescent via the future Schuylkill Crossing. \nBike lights and helmets are required. \nReturn trip to start point is available. \nAbout Bartram’s Garden \nBartram’s Garden is a 45-acre National Historic Landmark\, operated by the John Bartram Association in cooperation with Philadelphia Parks and Recreation. Its grounds encompass 45 acres of parkland\, wildlife habitats\, tidal wetlands\, and a reclaimed meadow. Visitors enjoy tours of the gardens and can further explore the landscape and riverfront. The grounds are used to their full potential through events such as free movie nights\, outdoor art workshops\, community kayaking and canoeing days\, and gardening classes. \nBartram’s Gardens’ grounds are free and open to the public year-round\, dawn to dusk\, except on City-observed holidays. SUMMARY:Bike to Work Day 2017
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, May 19\, is Bike to Work Day and Clean Air Council\, Go Philly Go\, Philadelphia Navy Yard\, PIDC\, South Philly Bikes\, and Cleaner Commute Philadelphia are coming together to celebrate experienced and beginner bike commuters\, as well as to introduce people to bike commuting. In the U.S.\, 40% of all trips are less than 2 miles\, making bicycling a feasible\, environmental-friendly\, healthy and fun way to get to work. \nNavy Yard employees\, come by our Bike to Work Day Support Station on Friday\, May 19\, just inside Broad Street Gate of the Navy Yard\, between 7:30 am and 10:00 am. We’ll have free coffee and doughnuts\, raffle prizes\, expert bike advice\, and even tire air for those who need an extra pump. Clean Air Council will have information on commuter benefits and GoPhillyGo will be on site to offer safety tips and trip-planning help. Ever wonder how to load a bike onto a SEPTA bus? Cyclists\, pedestrians\, and transit users will be able to try out the SEPTA bus bike rack. \nThroughout the month of May\, National Bike Month\, Clean Air Council’s Cleaner Commute Philadelphia program will be helping you get ready for your bike commute.
