SUMMARY:37th annual Run for Clean Air presented by Toyota Hybrids
DESCRIPTION:Clean Air Council is proud to host its 37th annual Run for Clean Air\, sponsored by Toyota Hybrids. The event will take place on Earth Day – April 22\, 2018 – with more than 2\,000 runners taking part in four different races – 10K Run\, 5K Run\, 3K Walk and Kids’ Fun Run. For the first time\, runners around the country can also celebrate Earth Day and support Clean Air Council by running a Virtual 5K race in the week before and after Earth Day. The three distance runs on Earth Day follow the banks of the Schuylkill River along scenic Martin Luther King Drive. As in years past\, this year’s Run for Clean Air is an AFitPlanet-certified green run. Clean Air Council is committed to maximizing the sustainability of the event with on-site solar powered generators\, t-shirts printed with sustainable inks\, recyclable run bibs\, paperless on-site registration and a free bike valet. Additional details and registration information can be found at runforcleanair.com. \nHighlights of Run for Clean Air include: \n\n10K run — one of the only organized 10K runs in the region that’s perfect as a training race for the Broad Street Run. \n5K Run – following a portion of the same flat\, fast route as the 10K run along the scenic Schuylkill River. \n3K Walk — everyone in the community has a chance to get active and support the Clean Air Council’s mission to protect clean\, breathable air with this stroll along the Schuylkill. This year\, participants are invited to bring their dogs on the walk as well.\nKids’ Fun Run — children five and under can participate in a 250-yard dash and children ages six to 12 can sign up for a half-mile fun run. Participating children receive a Kids’ Run shirt and an Earth Day finisher medal.\n\nRunners can even participate in the Virtual 5K anytime between April 15 and 29 from anywhere in the world and will receive a run medal and shirt just like race-day participants. The virtual race elevates Philadelphia’s largest Earth Day celebration to a nationwide level. Runners committed to clean air and a healthy environment can use the hashtag #runforcleanair to show their support this Earth Day.
