SUMMARY:Roundtable on Philadelphia Transportation Pollution
DESCRIPTION:  \nTransportation just surpassed power plants as the largest source of carbon dioxide pollution in the United States. Clean Air Council works to reduce emissions from both sources by supporting the Clean Power Plan and sustainable transit via programs like GoPhillyGo. The Council and PennFuture are hosting a forum to explore options for cutting transportation-related pollution in Philadelphia. Join us August 23rd 6PM at the International House to hear from the leaders of SEPTA\, the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability\, the Health Department and more! \nRegister here for this unique opportunity to engage those leading Philadelphia to improve air quality and transportation (plus snacks!). \nWhen: August 23rd 6-8PM \nWhere: International House\, Asia Room\, 3701 Chestnut St \nSpeakers:\nState Representative Donna Bullock (D-195)\nSEPTA Director of Innovation Erik Johanson\nMayor’s Office of Sustainability Director Christine Knapp\nEastern Pennsylvania Alliance for Clean Transportation Executive Director Tony Bandiero\nDepartment of Public Health\, Division of Disease Control Assistant Program Manager\, Bioterrorism & Public Health Preparedness Jessica Caum\, MA MPH CPH \nThe majority of Philadelphia’s air pollution comes from automobiles. We have seen new taxes on sugary drinks and cigarettes intended to increase city revenue and improve public health. Will we soon see this logic applied to cars\, tolls and gasoline? What can SEPTA do to increase ridership and take cars off the road on dangerous air quality days? \nWe need you to make this roundtable a success! \nPlease register here and be prepared for a lively discussion about pollution\, transportation and public health.
