A Message From the Executive Director: Thank YOU!
I have been the Executive Director and Chief Counsel at Clean Air Council for the past 36 years. I am extremely appreciative of the responses I read from the Council members who engaged over the last week with the Council programs we recently highlighted. Today is the final day of the Council’s first ever online Members’ Week, and now it’s my turn to thank all of you.
When I first started working at the Council in 1982, there were just two other staff members and the Council had no member support. Today, the Council has 32 full-time staff with thousands of members all across Pennsylvania and the United States. This kind of growth only happened because you believed in the Council—its mission, its staff, and its effectiveness.
Everything the Council accomplishes is thanks to you. The Council’s mission is to protect everyone’s right to a healthy environment. Our top priority is ensuring that all community residents are able to meaningfully participate in decisions that affect their health, their environment, and their quality of life. It is my commitment to do the best I can to make sure that happens.
Some of you have been supporting the Council since its founding 51 years ago. Some of you may have just heard of the Council this week. Regardless, I want to thank each of you for your support. Every action you have taken on behalf of the Council is meaningful. Whether you came to one of our special events, signed a petition, reached out to your local lawmakers, attended a rally organized by the Council, volunteered your time to help, or reached into your wallet and supported us with your hard-earned dollars, I thank each and every one of you. Every action you have taken has resulted in cleaner air, a safer environment, and many elected officials who now know what it is like to be held accountable.
I have one more thing to ask of you. Tomorrow is the Council’s 4th year participating in Giving Tuesday. Each year, more and more of you have generously contributed to this campaign. It is genuinely inspiring to see the outpouring of support. I ask that tomorrow you do one more thing for the Council this year and support us as we kick off our year-end fundraising with a bang. All gifts up to $5,000 will be matched dollar for dollar so your money will go further than at any other time of the year.
Again, thank you for all that you have done for the Council this year. The Council’s success is your success. I look forward to seeing your name cross my desk tomorrow during Giving Tuesday!
Sincerely,
Joeseph Otis Minott, Esq
