PlanPhilly: Philadelphia traffic deaths on the rise, despite Vision Zero promise – Mayor Kenney committed two years ago to reduce traffic deaths in Philadelphia to Zero by 2030. Despite various engineering and education efforts, Philadelphia’s traffic deaths increased by 17% last year. Philadelphia will need to increase Vision Zero efforts if we are to reach our goal by 2030.

 

The Inquirer: As I-95 construction worsens congestion, SEPTA is leasing train cars as an alternative to driving – The decades long renovation of PA’s I-95 corridor coupled with Philadelphia’s growing economy continues to create a congestion nightmare. SEPTA has leased train cars to increase capacity on the West Trenton and Trenton lines. Taking the train is a relaxing alternative to driving I-95.

 

Philly Weekly: Spot hero: Parking giant E-Z Park stole public land for personal gain — for years — busted by tipsterA parking lot in Chinatown has been cited for 27 L&I violations for illegally paving over half of the sidewalk. A tipster who has used the lot regularly for a decade has been instrumental in bringing to light this theft of public space for private gain. E-Z Park, the owner of the lot, has been ordered to return the sidewalk to its original condition.
