Clean Air Council’s interns play a key role in supporting a range of our initiatives and activities.
The Council’s legal interns have jumped right into a critical fossil fuel project—an air permit appeal against Renovo Energy Center’s 1,290 MW gas-fired power plant, which would emit more greenhouse gases than the city of Pittsburgh.
The Council’s three undergraduate interns are spending the summer hard at work, advocating for a plastic bag ordinance in Lower Merion. From drafting surveys to reaching out to the Board of Commissioners and the local business community, they are getting the job done!
In appreciation, we’d like to recognize the incredible summer interns who have dedicated their time to advancing clean air in Pennsylvania and share some of the work they’ve done so far.
UNDERGRADUATE INTERNS
Isabelle Dean is excited to be interning at the Council, bringing what she learns in the classroom studying Environmental Policy at Pitzer College back to her Philadelphia hometown. The work Isabelle’s doing for the Council confirms what she wants to do after graduating: work for an environmental policy or justice grassroots or nonprofit organization.
Serena Levingston is a student at Wesleyan University, where she is majoring in Environmental Studies. From Mt. Airy, Philadelphia, Serena has known of the Council’s work for years. As she considers a career in environmental law, Serena says “I feel lucky to join the Council this summer to learn more about strategies for environmental advocacy and protection.”
Max Sano grew up in New York City but has made Pennsylvania his home while he studies Environmental Studies and Government at Franklin & Marshall College. “I wanted to work for the Council because I was intrigued by their wide array of community involvement.” After college, Max wants to get a Master’s in Climate Policy and Environmental Science.
LEGAL INTERNS
Giovanna Crozier-Fitzgerald, originally from Ambler, PA, is a student at Widener University Delaware Law School. Giovanna came to law school to “fight the gargantuan battle against fossil fuel reliance and consumption of plastic.” She is continuing this fight at the Council, and loves “the incredible opportunity to work with and learn from the creative and ambitious Council legal team.”
Sage Lincoln’s passion for a healthy and just environment stems from growing up in Pittsburgh. A current student at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, Sage is thrilled to be part of the Council’s fight against climate change, pollution, and environmental injustice. “I came to law school to pursue an environmental law career, and working with the Council confirmed that this is what I want to do.”
Brandon Robilotti is a law student at Drexel University School of Law. Growing up in Long Island, Brandon worked for years in Philadelphia before deciding to go into the legal field. With broad legal interests in IP and entrepreneurial law, Brandon says “I will remain an environmental advocate over my whole career.”
Libby Wetzler is entering her final year at Temple University Beasley School of Law. According to Libby, “I grew up in the Philadelphia area and live here now, so a commitment to protecting the area’s natural resources is very important to me.” Libby plans to stay in Philadelphia and pursue a career in environmental law after graduating.
