CNBC: Tax Credit For Electric Bikes Recently, electric bicycles have increased in the United States. The tax credit from the Build Back Better bill may help with the continuous increase since individuals with an income of “$75,000 or less qualify for the maximum credit of up to $900” on electric bicycles.

PlanPhilly: Philly To Test New Tech To Stop Delivery Drivers from Parking IllegallyMassive online shopping has increased delivery vehicles on our roads and increased illegal parking. The city of Philadelphia will launch a new pilot program to reduce congestion and avoid illegal parking by implementing tech that allows delivery drivers to reserve time in loading zones.

TRIB LIVE: Pittsburgh Bans Parking In Bike LanesPittsburgh’s City Council passed a unanimous ordinance that forbids parking in bike lanes. There are some exceptions to this ordinance, for example, people with disabilities are still allowed. Bike lanes are now added to the other areas drivers cannot park, including crosswalks, sidewalks, railroad tracks, bridges, and tunnels.

Government Technology: Miami Reinstate Scooter After Temporary Ban Miami City Commission reinstated the scooter pilot program until January 5, 2022, but with more oversight and regulations. Seven scooter operators, Bird, Bolt, Helbiz, Lime, Lyft, Spin, and Wheels are allowed to operate during the pilot but the city is in the RFP process to select only three vendors for the permanent program. 

StreetsBlog USA: A Radically Equitable COVID Recovery Planning A new study surveyed over 70 public transportation agencies in North America to learn about their COVID recovery planning. Many agencies plan to increase neighborhood-to-neighborhood services, while some agencies plan to increase services during off-peak periods to increase transit equity.
