BillyPenn: SEPTA makes small fare updates to better integrate Philly’s many modes of transit – As of July 1st, SEPTA made two important changes to their fare system. SEPTA Key holders now have two free transfers (up from one) within a 2-hour window. The transit agency also added city Regional Rail access to weekly and monthly TransPasses. These changes allow riders to save a few dollars and are important for the Reimagining Regional Rail initiative and the Bus Revolution to get riders using the complete system more efficiently. This will help to integrate SEPTAs various modes of transportation and improve riders’ experience.
PhillyVoice: SEPTA to close 10 trolley stations Friday for two weeks of cleaning and maintenance – Between Friday July 7th at 10 p.m and Monday July 24th at 5 a.m, SEPTA is closing all its underground trolley stations for its annual trolley tunnel blitz. During this time SEPTA’s crew will do maintenance work and cleaning of these stations. This year’s work also includes the demolition and rebuild of the eastbound 22nd Street platform.
The Inquirer: Inside SEPTA’s hospital for sick train cars – SEPTA is currently shopping for 200 new cars for the Market-Frankford Line, but until then their mechanics and welders at the Upper Darby shop complex are working to keep this line functioning. These workers are constantly working and will continue to do so until the new cars arrive.
