The Inquirer: The Longed-For Roosevelt Boulevard Subway Is Drawing New Interest. Could It Happen? –  Roosevelt Boulevard is one of the nation’s deadliest roads. Transit experts and elected officials seek to redesign this road and make it safer. Ideas include the Roosevelt Boulevard subway which existed for 109 years, since 1913.This subway idea is drawing new interest but another idea mentioned in the Route for Change report on the future of Roosevelt Boulevard is bus rapid transit.

WHYY: Delaware Launches Initiative To Expand Electric Vehicle ChargingDelaware’s Department of Transportation and Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is seeking $18 million in Federal funding to install more electric vehicle charging stations across the State. This money would be coming from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and the project is expected to last five years. There are three different phases of this project.

PhillyVoice: New Jersey Expands Use Of Electric School Buses In Effort To Reduce Carbon EmissionsNew Jersey’s Governor signed an executive order to establish an electric school bus pilot program. The State is promoting the use of electric vehicles as a way to reduce carbon emissions. This order is a partnership with the Department of Environmental Protection. The DEP will issue $45 million in grant funding to 18 school districts for the next three years. 

CityLab: New York’s MTA Shops For New Funding As Fare Revenue DwindlesNew York City’s transit ridership plateaued at 60% pre-pandemic levels. Low ridership is forcing the transit agency to find new sources of funding and to cut costs. The agency projects a budget deficit of $2.6 billion in 2025.

My Philly Park: The Boxer’s Trail Is Getting An Upgrade!One quarter of the Boxer’s Trail in East Fairmount Park will be upgraded by the Fairmount Park Conservancy. This section of the trail stretches behind the Rockland Mansion. Funding for the upgrade was provided by the Mayor’s Fund through the William Penn Foundation and it is expected to be complete in September.
