NBC10: Judge orders SEPTA to restore services but allows fare hikes to go forward – Yesterday, Thursday, September 4th, the first day of the hearing centered around a lawsuit filed against SEPTA by riders, saw the ordered restoration of all SEPTA services. A judge ruled that all current and planned SEPTA service cuts must cease, meaning that all SEPTA services will return to operating as normal in the near future. The 21.5% fare hike will still go into effect; stay tuned on SEPTA’s website for more details.
PhillyVoice: SEPTA express trains to Eagles’ home opener restored through FanDuel sponsorship – The sports betting platform FanDuel stepped up to cover the $80,000 cost of restoring Broad Street express trains and free rides home for Thursday’s Eagles game. Special services were eliminated as part of SEPTA’s planned service cuts.
PhillyVoice: SEPTA to refund bus riders who were overcharged on Monday – Following the temporary court-ordered pause on fare increases that came last Friday, August 29th, SEPTA rushed to update software that had just been reprogrammed to charge SEPTA commuters higher rates. The transit agency pledged to reimburse riders who were accidentally charged the incorrect rate on a small number of certain buses on Monday, after SEPTA failed to align all the software in time.
