Clean Air Council Hosts First-Ever Virtual Greenfest Philly Celebration, Reimagining 15th Year of Largest Annual Environmental Festival in the Region

2020 Virtual Greenfest Philly to Offer Meaningful Environmental Programming Over 16-Day Period Including Green Quizzo, Vegan Cooking Demonstrations, Special Film Screenings, Kids’ Activities, Environmental Advocacy Initiatives and More

What: Clean Air Council is proud to host its 15th annual Greenfest Philly, an entirely free event presented by Toyota Hybrids. This year, for the first time, the festival will be completely virtual and extend over a 16-day period, giving environmentally conscious individuals in Philadelphia and beyond a chance to interact with climate leaders and experts, providing even greater access to a community of like-minded people, businesses and groups. The event will be the largest virtual environmental festival in the tri-state area and will feature a variety of new programs and favorite activities from years past updated for a new format.

Highlights of this year’s virtual event will include a film screening of “The Story of Plastic,” live Green Quizzo, education and advocacy webinars and live streams, environmental children’s programming presented by Mom’s Clean Air Force and countless opportunities for virtual attendees to interact and engage with presenters and groups. New activities and programs are being added to the schedule every day at cleanair.org/greenfest. The entire festival will be accessible through https://cleanair.org/greenfest/ as well as through the Clean Air Council’s social channels.

“Every year, all of us at Clean Air Council work to make Greenfest a day that makes environmental advocacy accessible and fun. This year, the digital format allows us to reach even more people in even more ways safely during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” said Joseph Otis Minott, Esq., Executive Director and Chief Counsel for the Clean Air Council. “Greenfest is all about fostering a community committed to protecting the health of people and the planet. This year, the best way to support that community is by making sure people can safely participate from the comfort of their own homes.”

Why: Since 2006, Greenfest Philly has been a signature event organized by Clean Air Council, Philadelphia’s oldest environmental non-profit organization. Greenfest supports the Council’s mission to protect everyone’s right to a healthy environment using public education, community action, government oversight and enforcement of environmental laws. In a year with a presidential election, the greatest public health crisis in a century and a new national consciousness over justice and equality, that mission is more important than ever.

To ensure the safety of attendees and limit the spread of COVID-19, Clean Air Council decided to make this year’s Greenfest a fully virtual event and expand programming over a 16-day period to ensure all environmentally focused individuals and families throughout the region had a chance to participate. The Greenfest spirit and sense of community will be captured in these virtual experiences and give everyone who attends a chance to learn about living a more sustainable life and celebrating a healthy environment.
