Clean Air Council cancels Greenfest Philly 2021 amid COVID-19 concerns

After much thought and deliberation, Clean Air Council has decided to cancel 2021’s Greenfest Philly on Saturday, September 25. This decision was not made lightly and we apologize to everyone excited about the return of Greenfest Philly and a return to normalcy. Unfortunately, the reality is that we are still very much in the middle of a global pandemic. As a public health organization, Clean Air Council made this decision with the health of our community, staff, volunteers, and exhibitors in mind, with information and data backed by science.

“I am truly disappointed that the Council will not be able to celebrate Greenfest Philly with the Philadelphia region this year,” said Joseph Otis Minott, Executive Director and Chief Counsel. “However, the safety of our Greenfest community and the health of those involved at every level has to be our top priority. We have explored numerous scenarios for holding the event and unfortunately, none will uphold the health and safety standards needed to protect thousands of event goers from COVID-19 transmission.”

While Greenfest Philly cannot be held in person, we encourage our community to stay in touch and continue learning about sustainability by following us on social media at facebook.com/GreenfestPhilly and twitter.com/GreenfestPhilly. Any questions or comments can be sent to Bobby Szafranski, Special Events Director, at rs@cleanair.org. We look forward to seeing you in September 2022. Stay safe.
