BillyPenn: Historic trolleys will return to Girard Avenue service in September, SEPTA says – SEPTA confirmed that at least eight of the historic trolleys will return to Route 15 on Girard Avenue in September. These historic streetcars, called President’s Conference Committee (PCC), are currently in rehab and have not carried passengers since January 2020. For the past three years, Route 15 operated only as a bus route, but with the return of the trolleys, this route will have a combination of trolleys and buses.
WHYY: New LINK trail will connect more than a dozen communities in South Jersey – The LINK Trail will be a new walking and biking trail connecting 17 communities in Camden, New Jersey once complete. This project will cost more than $30million and it will become a key part of the Circuit Trail Network. Parts of this project are funded with Federal dollars and construction is set to begin later this Fall.
PlanPhilly: SEPTA hits pause button on $48M suburban park and ride – In April, SEPTA’s board members put its $48 million park and ride project that would have created more than 500 parking spaces in downtown Conshohocken on hold. Local officials in the borough claimed to be unaware of the plans to pause the project and are opposed to alternative plans for the funds. This money is still earmarked in the agency’s budget, but SEPTA officials and transit advocates want to explore other transit oriented development options that could be achieved with the funding. There is a planned board meeting for late July but it is unclear if the project will be on the agenda.
