Metro Philly: Major changes in store for some SEPTA Regional Rail riders – The Media/Wawa line will be briefly suspended due to construction at the Penn Medicine Station, in University City. This construction project is the final phase of the Southwest Connection Improvement Program. Construction is set to begin this Saturday and last until August 26th. For the week of July 24 through July 28th, no train or shuttle will run along the Media/Wawa Route. Other days during construction there will be trains along parts of the route and shuttle options available at closed areas. A complete list of these adjustments and changes can be found at septa.org.
WHYY: UPS paid $9 million in Center City parking congestion fines. Here’s a list of top offenders – UPS is the top parking violator in the city of Philadelphia and has accrued over $9 million in parking violations since 2018. Many of these violations are considered to be congestion-related. Other companies that are top offenders include FedEx with more than $3.4 million in fines, Comcast, Julius Silvert, and Pepsi.
Plan Philly: North Philly transit hub, shopping district slated for multimillion-dollar overhaul – The busy transit hub and shopping district at the crossroads of Broad Street, Germantown Avenue, and Erie Avenue in North Philadelphia will receive a $7.3 million makeover by the end of next year. There will be new bus lanes and shelters, bike lanes, wider sidewalks, shorter crosswalks, new green spaces, street trees and a lot more. Construction is expected to begin next week and the overhaul will make the area safer and more enjoyable.
