Clean Air Council Announces Winners for ReImagine Beaver County Essay Contest

This spring, Clean Air Council sponsored a ReImagine Beaver County Essay contest, open to high school juniors and seniors in Beaver County, with support from ReImagine Beaver County, The Climate Reality Project and The League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania Citizen Education Fund.

This contest built upon a ReImagine Beaver County initiative launched in 2017 to explore ideas for bringing environmentally-friendly businesses or industries to the county. The 20-page report on that initiative can be accessed at https://www.shalepalwv.org/re-imagine-beaver-county-2019/

Given current climate and economic developments, local high school juniors and seniors were asked to share their best thinking on ideas in the ReImagine report or beyond for a clean, sustainable future for Beaver County. Both essays received high praise from the contest judges.

The first-place essay was written by Max Ujhaxy and titled “Two Green Thumbs Up for Beaver County.”

The second-place essay was written by Max Furman and titled “Bike Trails: The Best Path Forward for Developing Beaver County’s Rivers.”
