“The Hub” is a weekly round-up of transportation related news in the Philadelphia area and beyond. Check back weekly to keep up-to-date on the issues Clean Air Council’s transportation staff finds important.

The Inquirer: Unclear signage makes SEPTA’s rail system difficult to navigate. SEPTA, with help from Penn researchers, is looking into ways to make its signage more user-friendly and easier to navigate.

Streetsblog: Creating a system where e-scooters and transit work together can have a positive impact on cities across the country. Developing regulations to make e-scooters and e-bikes safe, accessible, and equitable will be necessary.

Roll Call: Cyclists and Pedestrian Advocates are pushing the Federal Highway Administration to do a complete rewrite of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. The current manual is car-focused and advocates want it to be more people-centric, putting safety first.

Streetsblog: The National Transportation Safety Board released its Most Wanted list, and for the first time in their 54 year history they have prioritized ending traffic violence. On this list, they have a specific bullet point to “Protect Vulnerable Road Users through a Safe System Approach.”

Next City: Slowing cars down is what Hoboken, New Jersey, did as part of their Vision Zero Plan to stop traffic deaths. The city has not recorded a traffic death of any kind in the past three years.
