Plan Philly: No fare card, no problem: PATCO moves to let riders pay with their phonesPATCO has announced that a variety of new payment options will soon be available to riders. Upgrades to fare readers will accept contactless payment from certain credit cards and mobile wallets like Apple Pay. The Delaware River Port Authority, the agency that oversees PATCO, expects to begin gradual fare reader upgrades in March.

 

6abc: Meet the SEPTA driver spreading brotherly love on his trolley Trolley riders, keep your eyes peeled for the Love Trolley this Valentine’s season. Pairing festive pink and red decorations with a playlist of classic love songs, long time trolley operator Gary Mason’s trolley just may be the most romantic ride in town.

 

Billy Penn: Part of Filbert Street is going car-free this summer. Should Chestnut be next? The 1100 block of Filbert Street outside of Reading Terminal Market will be closed to cars. Many sustainable transportation advocates would like to see Chestnut Street, one of the most congested eastbound thoroughfares in Center City Philadelphia, follow suit. The city has no plans for a car-free Chestnut Street at this time, instead focusing on improving the flow of the existing car-centric configuration.
