MLK Day of Service Projects 2024

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday, we would like to highlight MLK Day of service opportunities. In Philadelphia, the Cobbs Creek Ambassadors are holding three great community clean ups. Please consider volunteering for this day of service.

Cobbs Creek Ambassadors are hosting three community cleanup locations for this year’s MLK Day coming up on Monday, 1/15/24!

1. 65th St. and Cobbs Creek Parkway, Ambassador: Greg. 9am-11am.

Map link: 65th and CC Parkway (Note: This is further south than my usual location at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Parking will be along CC Parkway or surrounding streets at 65th, but you could also park at the Mt Moriah Cemetery entrance in the gravel lot and walk down to 65th St. (about half a mile)).

2. 70th St. and Cobbs Creek Parkway, Ambassador: Andrew. 9am-11am.

Map link: 70th and CC Parkway (Note: Greg and Andrew’s groups will head towards each other and cover this half mile area we rarely get to).

3. 63rd St and Walnut St., Ambassador: Stacey. 10am-12pm.

Please  use this online form to sign up for the clean ups.:

The Cobbs Creek Ambassadors will be cleaning up along the Cobbs Creek Trail and surrounding area. Trash removal from trail, creek, and surrounding woods preserves this area for all to enjoy and prevents trash from traveling elsewhere in the watershed area.

Bring nothing (except your enthusiasm!). We will provide gloves and equipment like trash bags, buckets, and some pickers. Waterproof shoes are nice if going by creek but not necessary. Bring your own water. Dress appropriately to stay warm!

We are limiting sign ups to (around) 25 people per location. Please email CobbsCreekAmbassadors@gmail.com if you have any questions!
