The Inquirer: How to prevent traffic deaths in PhiladelphiaSince the start of the year, approximately 116 people have died from traffic violence in Philadelphia. Philly’s lawmakers need to enact legislation that will reduce traffic violence. Such legislation includes expanding automated speed enforcement – House Bill 1284, the Jayanna Powell hit-and-run direct notification system – Senate Bill 730, and bike lanes separated from motor vehicle traffic – House Bill 1283

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Amtrak’s Pittsburgh route sees increase as more Americans take the trainPittsburgh’s Amtrak ridership grew almost 10% in the past 12-month period that ended in September. Ridership on the Route between Pittsburgh and New York City increased from 176,130 trips to 192,728 trips, and the state’s transportation officials plan to add a second daily train to this route within the next three years. Other routes also received an increase in ridership, and Amtrak’s overall ridership increased by 24.6%.

The Inquirer: Schuylkill River Trail will soon close to MLK Drive Bridge through the end of the yearA section of the Schuylkill River Trail between Paine’s Park and Fairmount Water Works will be closed to pedestrians and cyclists starting Monday, December 4th through the end of the year. This closure will allow for the rehabilitation work on the MLK Drive Bridge. This project is to be completed by Spring 2025. There are signs along the Schuylkill Trail to reroute people.
