Feet First Philly: Public Space Enhancement Mini-Grant Program Philadelphia’s pedestrian advocacy group launched the third year of their public space enhancement mini-grant program. Individuals, community groups, and businesses are encouraged to apply NOW through October 11th. Grants range from $500-$2000. Apply and improve a public space of your choice. 

The Inquirer: Spring Garden’s Makeover Project Has Raised Enough Money To Begin A Trail-To-Trail Design The Spring Garden Connector Project received $31 Million in funding that will link the Schuylkill and Delaware River trails. This will provide a walkable and bikeable route across the city with improvements to 22 intersections and parking protected bike lanes. This will connect Spring Garden to the regional Circuit Trail network and also complete a critical gap in the East Coast Greenway.

PhillyVoice: SEPTA To Expand West With New Wawa Station In Middletown Township, DelcoSEPTA’s trains have not served west of Elwyn to the Middletown Township, Delaware County area since 1986. But, the new Wawa station which will open in Middletown on August 21st represents SEPTA’s multi-year plan to restore service. This station is located 1490W. Baltimore Pike across from the Wawa Dairy and Wawa’s corporate headquarters.

Sustainable transportation advocates were outraged as high speed rail has the potential to decarbonize long distance travels and help to end car dependence.

The Inquirer: Is It The End For An ‘Utterly Spectacular’ Pa. Bridge?The Skinners Falls Bridge which connects Pennsylvania and New York in the Upper Delaware region has been closed since 2019. This single-lane bridge is a significant part of the Upper Delaware landscape, thus many people want it to be restored and reopened. PennDOT is currently studying whether this is possible.
